School Rules and Expectations:
Being positive is our first line of approach. Both in the classroom and the playground, staff are looking for children displaying good positive behaviour. Our system of rewarding children is a vital part of this Whole School programme.
Walk on concrete areas.
Return any equipment used by them.
Go straight to lunch areas or meeting area and remain seated for the 15 minute eating session.
Be outside during fine morning intervals and until 1.00pm at lunchtime when they will be allowed to work in classes if they have a permit.
Remain within the School boundary at all times.
Play in approved play areas. The car park, bike stands, behind classrooms and all gardens/shrubs/bushes are out of bounds.
Use appropriate language.
Refrain from becoming involved in fights – both physical & verbal.
Wear an appropriate sun hat when outside or stay in a designated shade area.
Follow directions given by teachers and School helpers.
Not roller blade/cycle in the School grounds from 8.10am – 4.15pm.
Leave School by 3.10pm and not return until after 4.15pm unless involved in an adult supervised practice.
Although these are permitted, we ask that children are made well aware of the road rules, wear safety helmets and are capable of riding in quite dense traffic. The Police recommend that children should be at least 10 years of age before riding on their own to and from School. Matua School encourages parents to cycle with their children if they are under this age. Cyclists must not enter or leave the School grounds by the Levers Road entrance. Bicycles should be locked in the bike stands provided.
